THE SHADOW OF THE WINDS by Carlos Ruiz Zafon

I am back to blogging after a very long hiatus.I must admit, after my rather pompous introductory blog i went hiding in a shell of inferiority complex and diffidence. Perhaps the reason for my reluctance to blog was my lack of imagination and a high level of self consciousness. I still havent got over these feelings ,but i cannot let my weakness ruin my chance to improve my written english. So i have decided to renovate this blog into a personal diary. This has two main advantages.I can work on my language and try playing with words and I wont have to keep maintaining system specific electronic diaries(now that is a bit too much jargons in a single line to digest)

So what makes me rekindle my blog?Well I have rekindled my reading habbit after a long break ,during which i was mostly forcing down my throat words and ideas beyond my comprehension, being a pseudo intellectual .I was reading abstract and philosophical books which never made much sense to me.But last week i started reading a fictional thriller called the THE SHADOW OF THE WINDS by Carlos Ruiz Zafon .Little had i heard of the author or the book before but i took the word of my colleague on it and started devouring it .Slowly slowly my i was returning back to that sincere bibliophile who was sucked into the books he read . I was so captivated by the book that i couldnot keep it down despite having to spent time for Cat prep .I felt like being back in those olden times when the choice of books went by your heart and not ur esteem.
My words fail me when i try to describe the beauty of this book. All i can do is pen down some words that fail to create the same effect as this book. No wonder people respect authors. Any way i shoud leave behind a partial vignette of the story ,to the point i have finished reading it. The story is about a boy who belongs to a bibliophilic family who owns and safe guards a library which is more of a treasure trove of all kinds of books. He follows his family tradition of picking a book to be his special one when he is first taken to the library. The mystery shrouding the author and mysterious people offering to buy the book from him at exorbitant prices causes the boy to go on a search to know more about the author .The course takes him through a surprising and unexpected trail finally culminating in the author realising how his life is strikingly similar to the author julian caraxes. The story proceeds at a modest pace initially with the pace catching up towards the middle of the story. Then its all a roller coaster ride for the reader as the mysteries are revealed .Though i felt i bit disappointed towards the end with the feeling of expecting too much ,on the whole i loved the book. On the whole it was a nice book light in content but gripping in its narration and ability to keep the reader on the edge of his seat.
